My Car Engine Dies In Reverse Gear
I have a 1991 Dodge B250 van about 120000 miles. It works fine, but i have noticed that after it has been running for a few hours the reverse stops working. It works fine in the morning, but later in the day the van will turn off if I put it in reverse and try to go in reverse.
We have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, gas lines and all the fluids are good. Drive seems to be working fine.>Thank You for any help

Hello JR,
I would start by cleaning the throttle body and idle speed control motor and see what happens.
I would also make sure there is not a vacuum leak under the hood somewhere, listen for a hissing noise. A broken motor mount can pull on vacuum lines and cause a leak.
I would also make sure the base idle speed is high enough. See if you can step on the brake and give it a little gas then select the reverse gear. If so, most likely an idle or throttle body type of problem.
In this video I am cleaning the throttle body on my truck, I would start there and see if this clears the problem. Should be done periodically as maintenance anyway.
