1996 Dodge Caravan

Reader Question: I have a 1996 Dodge Caravan. The check gauges light comes on then the car shut off.

Can you please tell me what the gauges on a van are?

Hey Victaree,

That could be due to a problem with the alternator not recharging the battery or a bad battery or from a bad engine control sensor.

If the battery is dead and you have to jump start or re-charge it to start the engine I would suspect an alternator problem.

If the battery is not dead, you will need to get your mechanic to read your computer codes to see what information is stored in your computer memory and figure out what the problem is.
