1991 Aftermarket Ford Mustang Has Engine Miss

Hi, I’d just like to thank in advance for any help you can offer. I own a 91 Mustang GT, with a very modified 5.0 motor. It has aftermarket heads, cam, intake, injectors, mass air meter, etc…I could list parts for hours. The car has a persistent misfire at part-throttle that seems to be getting worse. The car will start breaking up, audible through the exhaust, and buck and jerk violently. Heavier throttle inputs (not WOT) will usually be met with a bogging-down and heavy loss of power, occasionally an exhaust backfire, and then a normal, hard pull after anywhere from 2-5 seconds. The camshaft I run has a lot of overlap, but the driveability problems posed by the camshaft clear up at approximately 1600 rpms, beyond this range, the misfire becomes very noticeable.

2000 Oldsmobile Alero Engine Dies While Driving

HELP!!! I have a 2000′ Alero and I just paid it off!! ANd here I am!! It has 133000 miles on it and I have been having a problem with it dying while I’m driving it!! I have changed the fuel filter and spark plugs. I still continue to have a hesitation and every now and then it just SHUTS DOWN!! I wait a few minutes and it starts up and is fine for a few days. I have been told that it could possibly be the coil cover and boots. (one of the boots is cracked) Would this cause me to be “stranded”?FED UP, but PAID OFF in ILLINOIS

Mercury Sable Station Wagon High Idle and Poor Gas Mileage

I have a 1996 mercury sable wagon V6 with just over 200 000 km on it it’s still running good and I try to take care of it. lately the rpms have been running really high and affecting my gas mileage. about 6 months ago before a road trip I replaced all the spark plugs and wires changed the oil and such and everything was beautiful I was getting over 600km a tank. but lately it’s been acting up. I took it in for an oil change and got them to use the high mileage oil and flush the oiltank (if that makes since) and I’ve since driven it about 2000km and noticed the rpms going crazy so I took it in and got the oil changed again to regualr oil and asked if there was anything wrong with the oil and was told it was fine just really dirty. but the rpms remain the same. now I only mention the oil because I know in my car if I forget to change the oil after the regular 5000km I notice the rpms start going a little out of wack. maybe it’s something else? I’m not sure hopefully you can help.

Ford Mustang Dies at Stops and Idles Too Slow

I have a 1998 Ford Mustang GT. It has 95k miles and last week it started doing this. When it starts it won’t idle, it dies. If you hold the gas down and let if warm up it will start to idle on it’s own at about 500rpms. When I drive it, it drives fine, it doesn’t bog out or anything when driving, but, when I got to stop it will idle down so low that it will die. It just started this last week. I don’t know what to do and I don’t want to take it somewhere for them to tell me it needs 1k in repairs if it really only needs the plugs changed. What should I do or where should I start?

1990 Mercury Grand Marquis Engine Miss and Runs Bad

Howdy Austin, I seem to have a real problem on my hands, and not a clue what is causing it. I have a 1990 Mercury, Grand Marquis that has an engine tick for the first 2 to 3 seconds after it is started up. The car has about 150,000 miles on it. But the real problem I have is, the car runs great for about 5 miles when it is cold. After that the car has a severe miss but only in drive or overdrive. When it misses it causes a severe jerk inside for passengers. When I start out in first then second gear it runs fine but shortly after going into drive it starts missing and jerking the car. If I mash the accelerator to the floor and go into passing gear it will quit missing. When back in drive or O/D if the load on the engine is kept light, (as in just maintaining speed) the missing will back off. This is not an old problem,it just started about 2 weeks ago. Also the exhaust donut is leaking. It started leaking about 1 1/2 months ago and been getting worse. I was going to change it when I put it up on the rack for its oil change. Could this cause a lack of back pressure and make it miss like this? I had heard that lack of back pressure could cause this but sounds like a fairy tale to me. Please put me back on the right track. 1992 Nissan Stanza Loss of Power Runs Sluggish – Why?

I have a 1992 Nissan Stanza with a 2.4l 4 cylinder, my question is lately on take off or at low speeds the it has been kind of doggy or hesitant, but when i push the pedal down it will take off, i’ve also noticed my gas mileage drop, can u give me any hints on what to check first?

Ford Mustang Idles Too Fast

I have a 1995 ford mustang 3.8L V6. It started idling fast 3000RPM , when the mass air flow sensor was disconnected the idle went to normal, replaced mass air flow sensor problem persists. Any ideas??

Mercury Mystique Runs Bad and Dies – Computer Says Engine Is Lean

I drive a 1996 Mercury Mystique 2.0L. It is suttering and sometimes stalling on acceleration. It is worse on hot days, it’s also worse when the AC is on. The mechanic told me to get the PCM reflashed based on a TSB he found but that only made a very slight improvement. The engine code says my engine is running lean and disconnecting the Mass Air Flow sensor made the condition worse not better. Any suggestions?

1989 Volvo 240 Smokes Out Exhaust and has Gas Smell

I have a 1989 volvo 240DL wagon. It starts fine, as soon as I drive a couple miles it starts to run rough,idles rough puts out black smoke,you can smell gas fumes when it’s running like this, it also has a dead spot in the throddle when i accelerate. Then it will smooth out and run fine for awhile. I’ve tried fuel injecter cleaner, that makes no difference.
