My truck really starts to jerk when accelerating. My check engine light doesn’t come on. Can a mechanic still read the computer without a alarm to do so? I thought that maybe it was trash in the gas, plug wires look ok. I just don’t know. 1989 GMC S-15. 4.3 replaced two years ago. New plug, wires, converter, etc.
Good day to you and happy New Year Davis I have LUMINA 2001 140000 Km the ATM oil mixed with coolant the problem was in the radiator ,Repaired and I changed the ATM oil 3 times with the new filter, is this suffices? start the engine shifting OK but there is vibration when ATM at Park potion I feel The body and the steering vibrate while acceleration is this normal?
I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota truck, 64K miles, has had a complete tune up…Problem is that the motor seems to “surge” at times…more when using cruise control but some also when not using cruise….Seems more often when going up a hill but at times on level road. The RPM will move from 1500 to 2000, or from 2000 to 2050, etc….I have had it at the Dodge dealership 3 times and they cannot find the problem…When they drive it, the problem doesn’t occur…You don’t feel it when driving around town but on a long trip you feel it off and on…Can you give me some insight as to what the problem could be?
I have a 1985 Ford F250 4×4. everything seems to be fine except the oil pressure. the pressure is fine when i first start it up and for awhile after. when the engine starts to warm up thats when the pressure gauge goes down. i checked the oil when the engine was running and when it wasn’t(hot and cold) and the oil level seems to be fine. it only starts to happen when the engine temp. gets about a 1/4 way on the gauge. then the oil gauge starts to go down and then it will go back. so basically it goes up and down. is that normal? I’m not really use to the truck since I just got it, it was my step dad’s and I got it when he past away so i can’t ask him. I know he kept it running good and everything. please help me out.
Just a quick question on ’92 accord w/2.2, and something that’s a real brain teaser. after about 10-20 min or running when engine reaches full operating temp engine seems to run approx. 500 rpm higher/richer, with nothing else showing fault or error codes. although, pulling the ECU reset fixes it temporarily, but symptom returns. i hope with your years of honda service and expertise you have seen this very same thing, any idea?? thanks for your time. I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I have been having trouble where I am driving and the car starts to die and then finally shuts off. I jump the car and it only stays on for a few minutes. I replaced the battery with red top Optima @ 960 cranking amps and that didn’t correct it so I replaced the alternator. This morning after I drove the car long enough (about 30 miles), the car died again. It seems as if the alternator is not charging the battery. I have checked the wiring to the battery and alternator and they look good. My next step is to just change the wires anyway because I have no idea what else could cause this. Do you have any suggestions?
Whenever I start my truck (02′ Chevrolet Silverado HD) on a cold day (below 50 degress) my RPMs drop and the truck acts like it wants to die. What is the cause of this problem?
I have a 94 trans am and when i get on it it runs good until about 3,000 rpm to 5200 rpm then when it shifts into 2nd it runs good for a slit second then it runs rough and backfires and stuff again,the car left my boy and i stranded the other night, it acted like a carberated car ,you would give it gas and the rpms would go down until it stalled and couldn’t be restarted until about 20 minutes later, it would go p,p p,p, then finally started,i put a new fuel filter on and cleaned the throttle plate, and so far it didn’t live me stranded any more but runs bad @ higher rpms.
I have a 2001 Ford Explorer with 44,000 miles. Recently, especially after it has not been running, the car will start but not stay running with really holding down the accelerator for a few seconds. I thought it was due to the cold weather because it seemed to start and run fine the rest of the day. This morning, it would not stay running. It will start, stay running as long as I give it gas, but as soon as I let off it won’t stay running. I would like to have some idea prior to taking it in to see someone.
i have a 1994 Chrysler LHS that cuts out on me continuously while driving. i can put it in neutral and crank the starter till it starts and then maybe a mile maybe less it does it again. due to all the cranking of the ignition i burned the starter up and had to have it towed home. do you have any idea what might be causing the engine to die and why it wont stay running while in drive ? what is a faulty crankshaft position sensor and could this be contributing to my problem?
