I have a 1992 Toyota corolla. It has been dieing quite a bit lately. I have replaced the alternator and the battery. The belt is tight and in good shape. The fuses all appear good. I have taken to a dealer and they can’t seem to find the problem. It seems to be intermittent. The clock light starts to fade AND THEN THE Car goes dead. The battery at that point has around 9 or less volts reading on the voltage meter.
I might have hooked up my jumper cables backwards when I tried to jump start my 1999 Mercury Cougar. Now the battery light is on, and the battery will not hold a charge. What did I do?
1994 Nissan Altima and my alternator will not keep my battery charged its a new battery also new alternator i have had them both checked and they say they are good but the alternator is not groundiing ive cleaned the wires on everything and its like the alternator is not working
I own a 1983 Caddillac Fleetwood brogham, It has the ever wimpy 4.1 v8. Earlyer today, as i left work, right when i was about to get onto the freeway, the SERVICE NOW light came on… then my seatbelt light, but i figured only 15 minutes to my house so i can do it! Well, it was nighttime so i had my headlights on. They started to get dimmer and dimmer and dimmer, to the point where i could barely see.
A few months ago i bought this car and about a month later the battery light started coming on. Finally on a trip the light started coming on it was like everything kept dimming down , so we replaced the alternator/regulator is built in and it didnt help the problem. (but i drive it like that). The light still comes on and every now and then it does that dimming thing.
I have read your posting regarding alternator problems, but can you help identify the problem with my 1989 IROC / 5.7 Camaro? I bought the car new and within a couple of years my volt gage would drop as low as 8 and it never was over 12. I have replaced alternators, checked cable connections etc. I have also replaced batteries that failed early. Sometimes when I initially start the car in the morning the gage will read near 12, but after a few miles it will begin to discharge. Battery is new this spring. Any thoughts?
I was driving home from work one night and smelled what seemed to me like burning plastic.I then started seeing smoke coming from under the hood.I also noticed that my battery guage would drop down once I came to a stop.I pulled over and popped the hood to find smoke coming from the alternator.

Recently, my battery went dead in my 1994 Chevy S 10 Blazer. I tried to jump the car off several times with no success. I purchased a new battery and realized that my interior lights won’t turn off.
My 2001 Dodge Neon battery has to be jumped started each time I drive it and let it sit for an hour or so. Could this be just a bad battery or an alterntor problem?
