1968 Pontiac GTO 400 Engine Back Fire Out Tailpipe On Deceleration

I have a 68 GTO with a 1970 Pontiac 400 engine. I installed a new manifold on Holly 770 carburetor this winter. I have noticed that when driving at higher speeds >50mph and take my foot off the accelerator the car will backfire through the exhaust. I have read that it could be a multiply of causes and that timing could be one of them. What is your opinion on what it could be and the checks I can do to nail down the problem.

1990 Acura Integra Starts and Dies When Cold Sometimes

I have a question for you about my car, 1990 Acura Integra which, by the way has 289,900 miles on the original engine! It has always started right up. Now, occasionally, when I first put the ignition key in it starts, the idle moves to around 2 as usual, and then it just shuts off.

Mercury Tracer Won’t Start – Fuel Pump Inercia Switch Problem

My question is pretty simple I think. Last night I
had the unfortunate experience of striking a deer
that was laying dead in the road. It was kind of like
hitting a larger speed bump with the right tires of
my vehicle Mercury Tracer at about 40 mph.

Noise In Engine Area in The Morning – 1999 Ford Windstar

I’m helping my father in law work on his 1999 Windstar (yikes). When it heats up a bit, a rattling sound will start up in the motor. It sounds like it’s coming from the water pump or the air conditioning (which doesn’t work). Any Ideas?

Chevy Pick Up Air Conditioner Quits Blowing Cold Air

I am having an a/c problem. I have a 2001 Cheve 2500 HD, extended cab truck with a 6.0 v8 and auto trans. The problem is that the a/c seems to cycle. It will start blowing cool air and run fine for awhile, then the cool air will stop. shortly the cool air will start again. The fan works fine, just the cool air stops.

My Automatic Transmission Makes a Noise Now Won’t Pull

I have a 2000 Lincoln Continental with 105,000 miles. I’ve always “babied” it. Over the last few weeks, there was a soft “whirring” sound as I would accelerate over 2000 rpm no big deal, no change in performance. But then in a road trip to Chicago from St. Louis, the transmission seemed to be hunting for the right gear at speeds of 40-50 mph.

How Much to Install a Used Automatic Transmission?

I am considering purchasing a salvage transmission for my son’s old Chrysler Lebaron. I want to know approximately what to expect to be charged for installation (either $ or approximate labor hours). He is a student – has little money – and I would like to help him but can only go so far, you know?

Transmission Slow to Shift Into Reverse 2002 Saturn SL2

I just recently bought a 2002 Saturn SL2 with 65k miles and automatic transmission. While test driving it, I changed gears numerous times to see if it slammed into any gears or hesitated. It never did it. I drove the car to work for 2 days (32 miles each way) and now it’s started randomly hesitating before going into reverse. I’ve tried it from Park to Reverse, Neutral to Reverse, Drive to Reverse, with the Emergency Brake up in Park to Reverse and it really does it like 1 out of every 3 or 4 times. I’ve replaced the air filter and windshield wipers because they were disgusting and I planned on doing an oil change and checking the spark plugs/wires this weekend because I don’t know the last time they were done but like most people, I’m getting worried that I might have a transmission problem.

Lots Of White Smoke Coming Out Exhaust Pipe – Why?

Hi. I just saw your website and I really hope you can help. Sorry if I’m wasting your time. I have a 1969 Chevy Impala. Had around 150,000 when I bought it. It blows out gray or white smoke when i hit the gas not sure if I’m at a standstill. Not a little smoke but not a lot. enough though that everyone notices it. Car dies at lights when I try to go mainly if the engine is cold once its hot no stalling or lagging whatsoever. One of my friends said it might be the piston rings. I have no idea. Thanks.

Auto Upholstery Repair How Do I Fix a Cigerette Burn

I see a lot of different repair kits on the market. Even as an artist, for me most of them look nearly impossible difficulty and way too brightly colored. Is there a particular kit that I need to special order that is easiest to use? Is there a particular repair method that I need to use that will effect a perfect repair? The Saturn dealership is not far, would talking to them help at all? Is there a way I could get a piece of Saturn Upholstery fabric and then cut and glue that into place?
