Chevy Blazer Brake Pedal Makes a Hissing Noise Inside Cab

I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer with a brake problem. The pedal hisses loudly like air is being released when I apply the brake. Also, my engine idles rough and wants to stall. I did take it into the corner shop and they say it’s a vacuum brake booster that needs replacing. My question is if you think it’s the booster or possibly a leaky hose (or both)…what’s causing the hissing sound. This problem came on suddenly, not gradually. The shop wants to charge me $775 to replace the booster….seems high to me. I priced the part and read that labor is about 1-2 hours for this job. What’s your take on this?

Chevy Cavalier – Battery Goes Down While Driving – Have to Jump Start

I put in a new battery and the car starts fine. {’91 Chevy Cavalier} My battery light is staying on. After a few times driving the car kept stalling and needed to be jumped. Then it dies continuously. I think it may be the alternator or the voltage regulator. But, I thought the car wouldn’t start if the alternator is no good. What would you think is my best route? Also is the speeodometer partially electrical? All of a sudden it stopped working at the same time.

Mercury Cougar – What Clear Fluid Could Be Leaking In The Rear?

I have a leak somewhere under the rear end of the car. The mechanic at the dealer garage said it was a transmission oil leak. The fluid seems to be mostly clear in that it doesn’t have the appearance (on the ground) of any of the above. Do you have any ideas/suggestions?
