1994 Mercury Grand Marquis Solenoid Switch

Reader Question: I need to install a solenoid switch on my 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis. Can you tell me how to do it or direct me to a place that can?

Hey Sue,

If you are talking about the starter solenoid, it is probably located on the passenger fender well next to the battery. Buy the new part first so you know what you are looking at, then disconnect the battery cables first before you do anything.

It is a simple job if the solenoid is on the fender well under the hood, if it is on the starter, it is a little harder to reach…but still easy to replace. The auto parts store should be able to tell you which solenoid you are using.
