2005 Ford Taurus

Reader Question: My 2005 Ford Taurus has windshield washer fluid, which keeps freezing.

Is there anything I can add to the fluid so it will not freeze?

Hey Janet,

They do sell windshield washer cleaner with an antifreeze mixture already in the bottle. You should be able to find this at the local auto parts stores. On older cars, we used to put in a half a bottle of normal rubbing alcohol with the washer fluid to keep it from freezing.

Alcohol can damage some newer windshield washer pumps or so they say. Living in Houston, we do not experience that problem very often.
